Dad likes his dog bathed in "dirty water," or split and fried in a pan (as above). He prefers his accoutrements Chicago style, but has only what is on hand. Its tough to justify loading two infants up to run to the store just for a few items.The Turano roll is actually better than a regular bun. They freeze well, so on the rare occasion Dad indulges in a carb, (that's twice this week for those keeping count) he just reaches into the freezer and toasts one up.
Dad actually didn't like hot dogs until he had his first one at Casciani's in '97. It may sound gross, but there, they deep fry 'em! And they are so good. The counter guy sneered and educated Dad when he requested ketchup on his dog. Hey, Dad didn't know that it is immoral for a dog to have ketchup. Once schooled, Dad never allowed ketchup on his dog again.
