LIESEL took her first steps today, May 13, 2013 at around 1:15. Steps? More like strides! She cruised down a hall and back.
Not to be outdone, EJ did it too! He did it just now. As in while Dad was uploading her photos. He had to rename the post!
Mom takes Dad to task about it being their "first" steps. Technically, she is correct. They have both taken a few steps at a time before while supporting themselves by holding onto furniture. But this was the first time they walked with purpose and confidence. Their was nothing slow or tentative about it.
Liesel grabbed the walker and lit down the hall with the intention of being at the end of the hall. While Dad was doing his best MJ impression to grab the camera off the mantle and gets some pictures, leaping from a sitting position at the desk and over the playspace, she wheeled it around and headed back.
Once Dad got the pictures, Buddy, fussing from the boredom of the playspace, was let out to roam free. With Dad back at the computer Buddy grabbed his walker and duplicated her efforts.
Again, these were actual strides with the purpose of getting to another location. These were in no way trials or practice. They moved boldly and with a gate suggesting far more experience than they have had. Moreover, Dad did not encourage them and only intervened when Buggy's walker got stuck on the mantle pavers.
And, no, Buddy does not have four legs. It is warm today so Dad left the sleeper undone to keep him comfortable.
